If you’re not a big fan of the Expanded Universe, then this is definitely a set to pass by because it can’t even really be considered part of the Expanded Universe. Thankfully the distinct paint jobs (amongst other things) set them apart from each other. As a result, you get these pairs of identical Mandalorians forming. Interestingly, each Republic Elite Forces set utilizes the same Mandalorian sculpt twice to make two unique characters (with a few differences of course). And then the rest of the set (the three Mandalorians) are really nothing exceptionally new.

They unfortunately still suffer from limited articulation below the waste, but you can stand them in some cool “at attention” poses and that’s really all you need to worry about here. Admittedly, the Republic Commandos look fantastic in black armor with minimal silver highlights. For starters, you get a “shadow” interpretation of the Delta Squad (but called Omega Squad here instead). Neither set is great, but the Republic Elite Forces (Mandalorians & Omega Squad) is perhaps the better of the two sets. While the Expanded Universe jumped into the limelight from hiding on the back burner for so long, it seems that Hasbro let their personal interests take over and create a set of Boba Fett wannabes based on the likenesses of various Hasbro employees. The Republic Elite Forces multipacks were arguably the biggest waste of time and money for collectors.
